Donato D' Urbino
The designers DE PAS, D'URBINO, LOMAZZI Jonathan De Pas, Donato D'Urbino and Paolo Lomazzi, were born in Milan in the Thirties (Jonathan De Pas died in 1991). They work in the fields of architecture, industrial design and urban planning. They developed a series of pneumatic structures for the Italian stand at the Osaka Expo and for the XIV Triennale of Milan. In 1967 they designed "Blow", an inflatable easy chair, in 1970 the armchair Joe which has the shape of a great baseball glove, in 1973 the coat-rack Shanghai, all of them, objects which have remained in the history of design. They have received numerous prizes and awards, among which are the Compasso d'Oro and the BIO in Lubljiana. Their works are present in the design collections of the New York Museum of Modern Art (MOMA), the Denver Art Museum in Colorado, the London Victoria and Albert Museum, the Pompidou Centre in Paris, the Jerusalem Museum in Israel, the Kunstgewerbe Museum in Berlin, the Staatliches Museum für angewandte Kunst in Munich and many others. They add theory to their work as designers, through teaching and through their partecipation to the Association of Industrial Design and by being members of numerous juries in design competitions. They are collaborating with Quattrocchio since 1980.
