The precisely cut ring and the high quality 316L stainless steel give this watch its refined, yet tough and industrial character. The tube watch S38 has a 10 ATM water resistancy and a sapphire crystal lens. As opposed to the S42, the S38 is lighter and more delicate, making it suitable for a smaller wrist. As opposed to the original tube table clock, where the aesthetics are a result of the concept, the tube watch used the extruded ring as a starting point for the design. The quality materials and the industrial appearance of the dial give this watch its sophisticated yet solid and raw character. Both watch models, the D-series with leather strap and the S-series with a steel band, show a different interpretation of the iconic watch face. In addition to the original 42mm watches, we expanded the range with two smaller and even more refined versions: the D38 and the S38.

  • Piet Hein Eek

Piet Hein Eek was born in Holland in 1967 and was graduated from the Academy for Industrial Design in Eindhovan in 1990. While at the Academy, he gained attention for his exam project Scrap Wood Cupboards. He sold all of the cupboards and used the money to start his own design studio in 1992. The following year he went into partnership with fellow designer Nob Ruijrok, establishing Eek en Ruijgrok v.o.f. Eek first developed an interest in old materials after restoring a cupboard for his sister; he thought the old wood looked nicer than the new. He has built his business around old materials, saving these discarded pieces of wood and working outside of the circuit of mass production.
