The milanese sculptor Benedetta Mori Ubaldini has been living and working from 1991 in london. In Italy she trained as a picture restorer and conservator, but was not creatively satisfied with it. in 1994 she decided to enroll at the middlesex university of london, obtaining a bachelor in fine arts. ‘what I love is creating three dimensional pictures. my balloon pieces are what I fondly call - ugly art - they deal humourously with sexuality, body issues and everyday life. the pieces I do with chicken wire come from a childlike side of my imagination. the magical power of transparency is capable of giving each piece the lightness of an apparition, a ghostlike quality, like a trance from memory.’
